Why You Can’t Live Your Best Life Without Exercise.

You NEED to exercise. Sorry everybody, no way around this one.  However, it does not have to be this long, complicated process.  In fact, it doesn’t even have to be that strenuous.  An hour walk first thing in the morning (before you eat) can have an amazing effect on your body.

Let’s take a second to talk about the reason why we exercise. This is going to be a completely individual thing. If you’re looking for the fastest way to get abbs, this is the wrong blog post for you. What part of your life are you struggling with? Exercise to fix them. Certain parts of your body stiff or sore all the time? That usually means they’re weak.  Google exercises for that area (you may have to buy a 10-20$ band) and do them for 5 minutes a day.  Have a hard time going up and down the stairs? Do more of it. Go up and down the stairs as many times in a row as you can.  Have a hard time getting out of a chair (no one wants to get stuck on the toilet!)? Find a low chair or step and stand up 20 times in a row. You’ll get better and feel better.  Simple right?

Of course, people have injuries and limitations and that’s when getting professional help is recommended.  If you can afford a personal trainer or physical therapist, that’s the way to go.  If not, google is your friend.  You can learn how to rehab quite a few physical issues by taking an hour and educating yourself.

You don’t have to enjoy it but you can’t live your best life without it. Exercise CAN be fun and the more you do it the more you’ll enjoy it. Active hobbies are always great. Sports are wonderful (but lets face it, they’re not for everyone). If you prefer a more sedentary form of entertainment then this is even more important for you to understand. The human body was meant to move.

Let’s forget all the health benefits of exercise for a moment (lower cholesterol, decreased risk of type-II diabetes, lower dementia risk, improved sleep, decreased depression, lower risk of cardiovascular disease, etc…). How about being able to go up a flight or two of stairs without being winded or sore? Maybe tying your shoes without your back hurting? Or having sex for more than 45 seconds before needing to flop on top of your partner (hint: do planks)? The best things in life require you to have a strong, flexible body. Stop making excuses and start thinking about what you want from your body. Time to get moving.

Agree or disagree, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section. What do you want from YOUR body?
