Once you come to terms with this fact, being fit-ish becomes much easier. “Aww but I thought this website was going to teach me how to be healthy while eating whatever I want!” Well you can…kind of. For some people, moderation works. Some of us can stop at 1 slice of pizza, or a hand full of almonds, or 3 pieces of cake! However, many of us can’t. So lets all take a second, admit this to ourselves and move on.
Portion control is important for sure, but take a long hard look at yourself. Can you honestly order a pizza, have 1 or 2 slices, and be satisfied? Odds are, if you’re reading this, the answer is no. That’s nothing to be ashamed of! It happens to the best of us. I fall into that category myself. If I order a pizza, I’m going to eat the entire thing (or die trying).
So do we avoid this stuff all together? Hell no! The trick is to over indulge strategically. Ideally, 90% of our diet comes from healthy low calorie foods. Mostly veggies and lean meats with some natural, unprocessed fats thrown in to keep us from killing people. This way, portion control doesn’t matter as much.
“But I dont’t like vegetables!” Too bad. Force as many down as you can anyways. Consider this the sacrifice you need to make if you want eating that entire ice cream cake last weekend to be less of a problem.
Notice how I didn’t mention grains. Lets face some hard facts. Not a single “diet” allows you to eat bread, pasta, or potatoes. Yes they’re great but they are also likely to spike your insulin levels. I’ll save you all the science lesson but suffice to say, the more insulin you produce, the more of your food is stored as fat. So we need to keep insulin levels as low as possible as often as possible.
How do I keep my insulin levels low? Easy, avoid grains, processed foods, and obvious sugar. You can even take supplements that help keep insulin levels lower with meals. Green tea extract, alpha-lipoic-acid, and cinnamon all have been proven effective at this (Here’s my favorite).
If you follow the above steps, the amount of weight you can lose is astonishing. You can still have the occasional day of debauchery but they won’t derail you on your path to being healthier.

Great blog ! Easy to understand.
